How do you make an old fashioned Hunter Shiraz style red wine from Cabernet Sauvignon? Simple, get the Cruickshanks to make it. This is upper Hunter fruit which has soaked up plenty of lower Hunter terroir. It's earthy and fruit driven at the same time. There's so much flavour it's almost a meal on its own with a sensible 13.5% alcohol. It's so different to the squeaky clean reds from the southern states and in its own right so much more exciting.This is not a red for everyone [although it should be] but it will be one of the great buys of the year for all of you who understand what I'm on about.
Its feral and funky, a tad barnyardy and very highly recommended.
