This is a perfectly pleasant little drink and scores a bit higher with the price. It's dry, won't offend but just lacks the crucial zing. No spritzig either.
Alcohol is a lunchtime appropriate 9% and I can't find a vintage anywhere.
The Vinho Verde hunt continues!

£3.75 from Sainsbury's while the 25% off sale is on [regular £5]
CARTA ROJA 2013 MONASTRELL SYRAH
Well here's both. The bad news is that the superb 2011 vintage of this is just about sold out. The good news is there is still some stock of it along with the 2013 which is sharing the shelves in some stores. The even better news is that the 2013 is a cracker. Still a little quirky but far more depth of colour and fruit with encroaching dustiness in the background. It gets even better with the price down from the regular bargain £4.85
5/5 rating from me at a ridiculous £3.64 from Sainsbury's while the 25% off sale is on
JUST £5.06 from Sainsbury's for a short time only.
Yes, Sainsbury's have this on promo for £6.75 at the moment. They also have a 25% off sale running which brings the price down to a crazy £5.06
Back in the day this used to be called Montana. While the name and the style has changed* the price is about the same as it was 20 years ago. It's one of those high profile, well made wines [think Oyster Bay, Ned, Villa Maria, Matua] that you should always look out for when it's being specialled. The promo price for these brands used to be around £6. Nowadays, with the fall in the value of the pound, £7 looks like a good deal which I saw at Tesco a couple of weeks ago. This price really is crazy

* the 2016 is a bit of a blast from the past with far more herbaceous character than I've seen for awhile. There's still tropical fruit but expect a bit of grass as well.
