De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate Grown Sauvignon

HALF PRICE CLEARANCE GEM

Here's what Hooke of the Herald [30/11/10] thought about this one:
"De Bortoli Estate Grown Sauvignon, Yarra Valley, 2008, $32
A terrific Australian sauvignon blanc and nothing like a typical Marlborough. It's very complex and packed with interest, bright and varietal yet multi layered. Hints of nutty barrel and reduction; deliciously smooth juicy palate of texture and balance. Drink now 95/100"

Couldn't agree more although I believe the acid structure has the potential to make it even more interesting in a few years time. This demands sipping and savouring. And as much as we love the slurpable Enzedders this has NO connection with them whatsover.
It's up there with serious chardonnay, riesling, semillon and viognier and full credit to De Bortoli for taking the decision to quit an excess of stock while the wine is at its brilliant peak.

Please don't buy it if you think Marlborough SBs are the bee's knees but grab as much as you can if you like the elegance and searingly dry austerity of Sancerre
